Craft Assistant
Job Description
A vacancy has arisen for a craft assistant to assist with the delivery of maintenance and necessary installations. The job holder will provide support to maintenance activities that are relied on for the safe decommissioning of the Dounreay site.

Assist the instrument maintenance team, within balance of site programme, with the completion of preventive and defect maintenance procedures, setup and undertaking of new installations and general daily activities as required.
General cleaning duties within the workshop area and installation tasks on site. Undertake weekly equipment checks of instruments within various buildings and personal installed monitoring equipment testing. Provide escort duties for contractors during site visits. Able to work with minimum supervision. First aid training would be provided if required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Produce fit for purpose job reports describing accurately the work that has been carried out
- Identify routine maintenance problems where applicable
- Carry out minor maintenance activities
- Reinstate the work area after completing the maintenance of plant, systems and components
- Identify and report common equipment performance issues
- Conduct safe and effective handover of plant and equipment to others and accept and confirm responsibility for the control of the plant and equipment
- Undertake general housekeeping and cleanliness
- Collect and package waste.
- Undertake completion of tasks as detailed within the workshop procedures
- Carry out general duties to assist supervisors and tradesmen the execution of their duties on a day to day basis.
- Perform the responsibilities of Authorisations relevant to the post
Aptitudes and Experience:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Able to demonstrate safety awareness
- Numeracy and literacy skills
- Good communication skills
- Driving Licence would be a requirement for post applicants
- Post specific capability analysis assessment
