Job Description

Vacancies have arisen within the engineering group for electrical craft technicians.  You will be responsible for delivering electrical installation and modification projects as well as supporting plant maintenance activities.
Key responsibilities:
  • Carry out installation and commissioning activities associated with new builds
  • Carry out delivery of electrical upgrades and modifications to existing electrical systems
  • Carry out planned maintenance activities and defect rectification efficiently, includes defect investigation of causes and proposal of solutions
  • Reinstate the work area after completing the maintenance of plant, systems, and components
  • Utilise diagnostic techniques to identify faults in plants, systems and components
  • Liaise with suppliers/manufacturers on technical issues 
  • Mentor apprenticeship development and may be an SVQ Assessor
  • Identify and report common equipment performance issues
  • Identify obsolescence and end-of-life issues
  • Assess the effectiveness of maintenance procedures and provide required amendments and changes
  • Produce fit for purpose job reports describing accurately the work that has been carried out
  • Conduct safe and effective handover of plant and equipment to others and accept and confirm responsibility for the control of the plant and equipment within the work area isolation boundary
  • Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to the post and hold a relevant disciplined nominated appointment 

Aptitudes and experience:

  • Electrical apprenticeship plus HNC in Engineering or equivalent qualifications plus experience
  • 18th edition wiring regulations or a minimum of 17th edition with a willingness to complete 18th edition within 6 months
  • Good communications, self motivated and can work well as part of a team
