Environmental Specialist
Job Description
A vacancy has arisen within site services - technical for an environmental specialist. The purpose of the post is to provide environmental professionals to execute the land quality team programme of work. The job holder will be responsible for undertaking land quality desk studies, risk assessments, and where necessary remediation activities. The team also provides advice and related services to the site programmes on land quality matters.

Main responsibilities:
- Implement the environmental management processes & standards, within the Dounreay integrated management system are appropriate to deliver the environmental characterisation, remediation, and restoration requirements
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to expedite efficient safe project delivery
- Undertake phase 1 preliminary investigation and risk assessments, phase 2 exploratory site investigation and risk assessment, phase 3 remediation, phase 4 verification and phase 5 closure
- Produce, model, interpret and report environmental data sets
- Support the project manager in the day-to-day delivery of tasks and problem solving
- Write and review technical reports, documentation and assessments
- Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to the post
The job holder will also:
- Support the provision and interpretation of area information summaries
- Maintain and update the land assessment module
- Collate information and prepare the annual land quality report
Aptitudes and experience:
- HND Engineering/Scientific or equivalent qualification plus experience
- Experience within the nuclear industry
- Environmental experience
- Excellent interpersonal & communication
- Ability to plan work and develop and deliver work to challenging timescales
- Ability to develop innovative solutions for technical problems
- Post specific physical capability analysis assessment
