Health Physics Support
Job Description
A vacancy exists within the site services directorate for health physics support. The purpose of the post is to support the development and maintenance of quality and technical standards required for the health physics service, and monitoring of the quality of the output of health physics services on the Dounreay site. The job holder will provide support to the SSHEQ & Radiation Protection manager and undertake quality assurance tasks associated with the delivery of the health physics monitoring service.
Main Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and undertake RPM Surveyor competence assessments and approvals as site Licensee (intelligent customer support), assisting the NRS Dounreay health physics authority
- Undertake quality checks of health physics monitoring service
- Review, update, and develop radiological protection operating instructions
- Assist in delivering specified tasks identified within the Dounreay plan
- Deliver health physics training packages
- Undertake health physics assessments including operational monitoring
- Manage operational monitoring approvals
- Ensure the dosimetry service maintain all NRS Dounreay equipment and services necessary to maintain the approved dosimetry service
- Perform the responsibilities of management appointments relevant to post
Aptitudes and Experience:
- HNC in Science/Engineering or equivalent qualification plus experience
- Relevant nuclear industry experience
- Health Physics qualification: Stage 1 C&G Radiation Practice or NVQ Diploma in Radiation Protection Level 2 or equivalent would be advantageous
- Ability to demonstrate good organisational and planning skills and self motivated with the ability to work with limited supervision
- Good written and oral communication skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package
