Vacancies exist within various areas on site for Project Supervisors.  The role's primary purpose is to oversee the safe delivery of physical work.  Supervisors will ensure work is conducted safely, securely, and in compliance with environmental standards by suitably qualified and experienced individuals, intervening when necessary.  Understanding the legal implications and boundaries of each task is crucial.

Balance of Site role:
This pivotal role is essential for the safe and efficient delivery of balance of site projects.  The successful candidate will be a vital member of a network of supervisory professionals.  You will work closely with the project team which incorporates operations, contractors, works control, and specialist advisors to ensure the successful execution of projects.  Your collaboration will be key in maintaining safety and efficiency across all operations.  A trainee may be considered and salary will be dependant on experience.

Reactors role:
Knowledge of processing operations and practical experience of working with alkali metals would be an advantage.  There may be a requirement to work on a casual shift basis.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise work to ensure it is safe, secure, and environmentally compliant, adhering to the safety operating envelope, such as the safety case
  • Ensure tasks are performed by competent personnel according to MAN2003 (works control manual) requirements
  • Manage and monitor contractor performance
  • Assimilate and implement revisions to processes and legislation into practice
  • Review and prepare safe systems of work documentation
  • Review work and initiate STOP procedures when necessary
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to expedite project delivery safely
  • Assist in project progress reporting and programme statusing
  • Participate in work scope and hazard reviews, scheduling, and interactions
  • Contribute to the preparation of handover documentation and support project handover
  • Report and investigate abnormal conditions, unusual occurrences, and failures, taking appropriate actions to protect personnel and the environment, as defined in PRC 0001 (reporting, investigating and learning procedure)
  • Participate in site emergency response and exercises as required
  • Perform the responsibilities of management authorisations relevant to post.  Prior to appointment all project supervisors must be appointed to permit receiver, and for areas with local rules, radiation protection supervisor (RPS)

Aptitudes and Experience (see below for specific area aptitudes):

  • Able to demonstrate good organisational and planning skills
  • Understanding and awareness of safety issues
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster a collaborative team environment where individuals feel respected and included
  • Adaptable and open to change, coupled with a positive approach
  • Post specific capability analysis assessment

Balance of Site role:

  • Experience in a construction industrial environment
  • CITB Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or equivalent
  • Experience of supervising personnel including the coordination of their work activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of work control process and safe systems of work
  • Experience and knowledge of supervising contracted works
  • Previous experience and training in the following areas would be advantageous:
    • Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Control/Instrumentation or trade background
    • Construction/Demolition experience
    • Lifting Operations
    • Radiological Work
    • Waste process
    • CSCS Gold Card

Reactors role:

  • Relevant experience of processing operations and practical experience of working with alkali metals would be an advantage
  • Willing to work on a casual shift basis
