NRS Dounreay is seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) team, supporting the delivery of the FCA programme. We are looking for experiences Safety Advisors but can also consider a Trainee for this role.

This is a key role where you will provide expert advice and practical support across projects and facilities, helping to ensure safe planning, execution, and continuous improvement in health and safety performance. You’ll work closely with Project Managers, Authorised Task Owners (ATOs), and a wide range of stakeholders to embed robust safety practices and drive innovation in safety solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional Health & Safety advice to projects and operational facilities
  • Review and comment on work instructions, risk assessments, and associated documentation
  • Support the design and delivery of Industrial Health & Safety training packages
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including regulators and auditors, on health and safety matters
  • Undertake and report on planned and reactive inspections, audits, and walkdowns
  • Identify safety deficiencies and recommend practical remedial actions
  • Represent NRS at internal forums and meetings
  • Contribute to, and where required lead, risk assessments
  • Chair or support incident and accident investigations
  • Fulfil responsibilities aligned to relevant management appointments

About You

You will be a knowledgeable safety professional with strong interpersonal skills and a practical approach to problem-solving within complex industrial environments.

Essential Requirements

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or Construction Certificate
  • Membership of IOSH
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrable industrial experience, including construction environments
  • Ability to carry out post-specific capability assessments
