Senior Environmental Advisor
Job Description
Vacancies have arisen within Balance of Site (BoS) and the Fuel Cycle Area (FCA) for Senior Environmental Advisors. The purpose of the post is to provide environmental support to Dounreay that promotes and documents compliance with environmental legislation and adherence to the environmental safety strategy. The job holder is responsible for deploying the site’s environmental safety strategy and delivering environmental advice to projects site-wide.

We have an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our busy teams providing environmental support to a number of facilities and projects. There will be lots of variety, engagement with numerous stakeholders including site regulators and provision of support to deliver our programmes of work.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a key stakeholder in a range of environmental processes, including DMRs, HAZOPs, UNOR investigations to implement management systems, standards and procedures
- Coordinate and provide specialist environmental support to interface with SEPA on behalf of facilities and project teams
- Represent Dounreay at internal and external forums
- Coordinate the provision of environmental advice to facilities and project teams
- Mentor environmental advisors on issues of continuing professional development, matters relating to regulatory compliance and environmental issues
- Produce and deliver site and plant specific environment process and awareness training
- Support the implementation of improvements in the Environmental Management System
- Coordinate and produce environmental documentation in line with legislative and project requirements, including aspects assessments, BPM assessments and environmental support files
- Participate in arrangements for the sharing of environmental knowledge and support to other site environmental specialists
- Coordinate and deliver specified tasks from the Dounreay plan
- Review and report on the efficacy of environmental arrangements and resources in their area
- Establish and report on internal checks and protocols for the environmental arrangements in their area
- Coordinate technical secretarial support to relevant environmental committees
- Perform the responsibilities of Authorisations relevant to post
- Manage Dounreay staff as a Line Manager
Aptitudes and experience:
- Degree Environmental Studies or equivalent qualification plus experience
- IEMA or equivalent membership
- Demonstrable record of providing environmental advice
- Demonstrable industry experience
- Extensive knowledge of compliance requirements against EASR and Environmental management systems
- Excellent team working skills
- Ability to use own initiative.
- Line management experience is desirable
